Working at ONE Consultants, one of the most meaningful aspects is how much they value and support their employees personal and professional development. No matter if it's pursuing a passion, building or developing skills, the company encourages us to take our time if we need to explore, learn, and grow.
At the beginning of the year, I took six months off to embark on a research project in San Francisco as part of a program supported by the Danish Innovation Center in Sillicon Valley. It was an incredible opportunity to work with a dynamic Silicon Valley startup, and dive into the heart of innovation in the Bay Area.
I stress over what I'm going to do with my job before making a decision. I knew I couldn't balance such an intense research project with my day-to-day work responsibilities. And the thought of losing the position at ONE was overwhelming. But ONE Consultants supported me incredibly from the start. They encouraged me to pursue this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and assured me that my work would be waiting for me when I returned. The level of support doesn't stop there. They also gave me recommendations for places to visit while in San Francisco. That turned out to be great advice!
Throughout my time in the US, they stayed in touch with me, keeping things very personal and human. It wasn’t just about checking in for work; they genuinely cared about my experience and how I was doing, making the whole journey even more fulfilling.
Here's a look at some of the amazing places I visited, thanks to their recommendations:
During those five months, I gained hands-on experience with groundbreaking technology, networked with industry leaders, and received valuable entrepreneurship training. These sessions helped me bring fresh ideas back to the company and gave me a new perspective on the role of innovation in shaping a sustainable future.
But my story isn’t the only one.
A few years ago, my colleague Xander decided to take three months off for a trip in the United States. His journey was more personal. It was an opportunity to reflect, recharge, and explore America's vast landscape. An opportunity to get out of the office, experience new places and come back to have a refreshed mind again.
What makes ONE Consultants special is the recognition that personal and professional development go hand in hand. Whether through continuous education research like I did or personal experiences, like Xander’s road trip, our company encourages us to achieve our goals outside of the office. This level of support makes it clear that we are valued not only for the work we do, but also who we are as individuals.
Both trips were transformative in their own ways. Mine focused on professional development. Xander’s explored personal growth. In both cases we had support every step of the way.
The experiences we have outside the office, whether it's personal or work related, will help define who we are when we return. They bring new ideas, new energy, and a new perspective that ultimately benefits us and the company. I am incredibly grateful to ONE for fostering an environment that supports our ambitions and where we are given the freedom and support to grow beyond our day-to-day roles
As we look ahead, I’m excited to see what new journeys my colleagues and I will embark on next—and how ONE will continue to support us on our paths.
